in meiner garage hat sich was geändert, der mustang ist weg, dafür steht dort jetzt ein 77er Trans Am. das auto ist noch garnicht zugelassen und macht jetzt schon richtig spass )

wisst ihr eine seite wo ich meinen fendertag korrekt entschlüsslen kann ? habe nämlich ein paar ungereimtheiten,kann aber auch sein das ich falsch abgeschrieben habe, manches ist nicht mehr gut zu erkennen,weil paar mal überlackiert....

Ich weiß, das ist gar nicht einfach. Da gäbe es so schlaue amerikanische Büchlein wie: Decode your Pontiac oder so... Im Internet wird man da ned klüger hab ich gemerkt...

That's a Body Number Plate, a Fender Tag is what the NoCar crowd is always going on about.....

Official designations:

GM = Body Number Plate
FoMoCo = Vehicle Certification Label
MoPar = Body Code Plate

Anyway, this is what I could find out about your Pontiac:

ST 77 = Style 1977 = model year 1977 (30/09/1976 - 05/10/1977)

2FS87 = Standard Firebird (not a Trans Am which is FW87)

N = Built in the Norwood, Ohio factory

TR 71R = Firethron vinyl trim with bucket seats

19 = Starlight black
19U = Could this be 19T instead, for a black vinyl roof ?

06A = Built in de first week (A) in the month of June (06)

WS4 = Trans Am option

I had this GM option codes book, but someone borrowed it and never gave it back to me......

but i dont understand the options 2FS87 ( basic firebird ) and WS4 ( trans am option) !? i think , something is wrong there !?

my vincode is : 2W87Z7.... it must be a trans am , what do you think ?

ws4 war anscheinend nur eine spezielle farb option, die's wohl auch für den standard fbird gegeben hat. ws6 war dann, glaube ich, ein spezielles fahrwerk (auch für fbird oder nur t/a zu ordern? )

ws4 sagt dir es ist ein T/A

ws6 ist, wie von driver schon erwähnt, eine Fahrwerksoption. (bigger rear swaybars, improved bushings, 8inch wide Snowflakes, stärkere Federn,...)

ws6 gabs aber erst ab 1978!

es ist also ein Trans Am

und was hat es mit dem code : 2FS87 auf sich ? wenn das heissen soll das der wagen ein standart firebird ist und drunter WS4 steht, stimmt doch etwas mit der plakette nicht oder ??

It's a wee bit confusing, but the car in question is a real Trans Am model:

Trans Ams produced at Norwood used the base Firebird code on the data plate, but identified the Trans Am by means of an imprinted WS4, the UPC for the Trans Am option (UPC=Universal Production Code).

The Van Nuys factory, on the other hand, used the "correct" style designation on the data plate and consequently did not imprint WS4.

ah verstehe, dann bin ich aber froh das ich keinen zusammengebastelten trans am habe !!! )
