We can all name a host of trick options that have made it on the automotive market, but what about the losers? Of late, we've had Pontiac's adjustable pedals. Considered a standard feature of the future with all seats bolted in place this $47 Pontiac option was installed in only 7200 cars. That is well below expectations. Another Pontiac first, the maintenance-free battery for 27$ extra wound up in only 5000 cars. And it was standard on the Grand Prix SJ. Finally consider the $44 recreation table for the center facing third seats in full-size Ford station wagons. Only 1933 were sold.
Well, no one said better ideas were necessarily saleable ideas.
