I am in the US as well and I don't know anyone who uses stigma like mentioned in this topic.
Yes some cars are told to be grampa cars. Like the Town Car, Crown Vic, Caprice just to name a couple. Or most rednecks are supposed to drive a fullsize diesel truck. Treehuggers got a Prius.
That's about it.
In Europe it's mostly people who have no clue about cars and the world that talk bad about a certain type of car.

It's easy as that: It depends on what u want:
Mustang:

A real Trans Am (only 1st and 2nd gen) :
Even though the wheels are a bit gay (too big) but concerning the hooters, I wouldn't care!

If u have a home that's mobile, and 14 cars that aren't...... u might be a Redneck

that's a nice (and in some way also kind of interesting) topic to chat around...sure.
but! If you really consider too much about what people may (or may not) think about your car, it's better to walk..
don't care and drive what you want. There are always guys out there fooling around as many as those who like our cars

Hi guys,
Let's please not derail this thread going off topic and start talking about car stereotypes in the US. This thread is about Austria.
Americanpatriot, if you want to talk about the US please start another thread. And we can then talk about American car stereotypes there. I know quite a few and it's not only trucks and the Prius. There are judgmental people everywhere in the world.

Sure. You're right. And that will not influence my decision. But like I said, if I'm going to be judged or labeled based on the car I drive I would just like to know what that label will be. And like you said, it is kinda fun to talk about it.
Besides this also helps me to understand Austrian car culture a little better.

Ah yes there was one...
Are you trying to make fun of Austrians because you are German? It seems you are in Bavaria. If you are going to post a picture of that type of car, at least be fair and post a picture of it's big brother.

Will drive over and past any Benz, Porsche, VW, BMW and probably even the G Wagon.

There is a car culture anywhere. You don't need to make your own car to have a car culture.

nobody is judging your on your car. If you come up with a Golf GTI or a lowered BMW 3 they might have a picture of you. But when you are a cool guy you pay a beer and everybody is your friend
Haha. Beer always works right. Anywhere, any time.
I was hoping people don't really judge people by their cars. I was hoping that people would not really think somebody is a real life pimp because he drives that AMG.
If they would like, cross the street when you pull over and get out of your car just so not to walk by you because they thought you were a drug dealer based on your car, then it would be a serious psychological problem.
But I think it's just jealousy and envy, like V8cowboy said.
But it's still interesting to learn about the car cliches.

And also great to learn about the Austrian laws concerning cars.

Of course! These are the rules!!
Yeah, I know. Bavarians take the piss on Austrians and the rest of Germany takes the piss on Bavarians.

The English takes the piss on the Welsh and Scots etc. This is Europe or so my European wife tells me.

But let's not turn this thread into that. It's about cars and cars in Austria.

Thanks again everybody for joining and taking the time to comment.
