hat jemand von euch links zu us cars händlern privatinserat seiten usw. aus südafrika?
nur fahrzeuge aus den 50ern sind gefragt.

EDIT:
wie schaut es eig. mit ersatzteilen für rechtsgesteuerte aus?sind da viele unterschiede zu den normalen amerikanischen?bekommt man die teile genauso leicht wie normale ford teile? sind da große unterschiede?

52er de soto und nen 50er ford zwar 4türer aber super zustand um 8,7 inkl verschiffung..also eventuell hab ich bald was zweites

Na sooo viele wirds da nicht geben. In Australien werden die Autos regelmässig umgebaut - mit oftmals abenteuerlichem Aussehen.

Hab nen 63er Cadillac gesehen der linksgesteuert war und die Pedale mit Stangen nach rechts verlängert hat und ein zusätzliches Lenkrad per Fahrradkette auf der rechten Seite gehabt hat.

Ich denke wenn damals rechtgesteuerte Modelle verfügbar gewesen wären dann hätte es diese Umbauaktionen in diesen Stückzahlen wie in Australien nie gegeben.

Ähnlich wirds wohl in anderen Ländern mit Linksverkehr sein.

Chrysler hatte ein Werk in Südafrika, jedenfalls in den 60ern (rechtsgelenkte Barracudas gibt es daraus vor allem in England, aber auch in Ö gab es einen....), und wahrscheinlich - siehe DeSoto auch in den 50ern...

Aber eher wurden dort nur Exportmodelle gebaut, so ala Dodge Kingsway etc...

In a 1984 Plymouth Bulletin article, Neil Lith, formerly of the Sigma Motor Corporation in South Africa (the successor to Chrysler South Africa), wrote that Chrysler’s original four cylinder models were imported to South Africa as fully built vehicles; and in 1941, an assembly plant was built in Cape Town by Bill Atkinson, Bert Oates, and Len Oates. Assembly was cut short in 1942 due to World War II, as the plant was converted to military transport, but was resumed in 1945. A second assembly plant owned by Atkinson & Oates and McCarthy was built in Durban in 1947.

Fred Schnetler pointed out that the South African products used locally sourced glass, paint, tires, batteries, and upholstery, which is why South African produced vehicles, down to the cheapest Plymouth, had real leather upholstery.

Because American cars were becoming more expensive, due to their large size and devaluation of the British pound (South Africa was in the Commonwealth), both plants started to build British and European cars in 1950. These included Rootes models, Peugeots, Standards, and Triumphs. In 1958, Chrysler production was exclusively at the Atkinson Oates plant in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town.

In 1960, Chrysler Corporation took up 50% ownership of the Cape Town plant, and the company’s name was changed to Chrysler South Africa. Shortly afterwards, the Valiant went into production, sold as the Dodge Lancer, DeSoto Rebel, and just plain Valiant; the Plymouth name was dropped at this point. Neil Lith was Managing Director for some years leading up to 1962, when he became Managing Director of the Bus Bodies Group in Port Elizabeth.
